So you want to get WPA handshakes... get your self a copy of Kali Linux https://www.kali.org/ and you need a WiFI adapter you can put in monitor mode

ALFA AWUS036NHA Wireless B/G/N USB Adaptor - 802.11n - 150 Mbps - 2.4 GHz - 5 dBi Antenna - Long Range - Atheros Chipset - Windows XP/Vista 64-Bit/128-Bit Windows 7 Compatible, TAA Compliant NOTE this is only a 2.4 not a 5G Adapter

I have Kali installed on an old laptop, you don't need anything fast, just "ok"
Once you have Kali installed

sudo apt install crunch
sudo apt install crowbar

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install hcxtools
sudo apt-get install hcxdumptool

sudo ln -s /usr/bin/hcxpcapngtool /usr/bin/hcxpcaptool

sudo git clone https://github.com/ZerBea/hcxdumptool.git
sudo git clone https://github.com/ZerBea/hcxtools.git

Go to https://github.com/derv82/wifite and https://github.com/derv82/wifite2 (Prefer Wifite2) it will make life so much easier
